The artist gives visual form to philosophical concepts, fusing her ‘inner’ and ‘outer’ worlds to create a personal mythology. The ‘Numbers Series’ (see ‘Three’, 1980) is influenced by the esoteric Judaic mysticism of the Kabbalah. The series is a symbolic interpretation of the universal nature and spiritual significance of numbers. The breakup or dissolution of walls or sky (see ‘Inversions’, ‘Poeticus’, and ‘Apocalypse’) reveal the unexpected nature of ‘reality.’ |
